Symantec warns Mac users

This article talks about a recent warning from Symantec to Mac users. They apparently think that the Macintosh platform is going to be a prime target for viruses and malware due to its projected growth for the coming year. I agree to a certain extent, but can anybody really believe an Anti-Virus manufacturer about such things? Could they possibly be trying to scare up some more business for themselves? As of right now, if you own a Mac you don’t need an Anti-Virus application. That’s just the way it is. Will Apple doubling its market share change that? Maybe, but as this article says, 5% of the market still isn’t all that much to make OS X the next Windows in terms of viruses. You can’t blame Symantec for trying I guess.
